Hyperext vs Sagify, and the Other Sage 50 Shopify Connectors

Hyperext's HyperShop connects Shopify to Sage 50 Accounts in the UK; Sagify connects it to Sage 50 US and Canada. A fair comparison of both, plus Zynk, Tradebox, CartSpan, Storehub, Commercient and the rest, by edition.

Hyperext and Sagify don't compete, because they connect Shopify to different programs. Hyperext's HyperShop is built for Sage 50 Accounts, the UK and Irish product. Sagify, which we make, is built for Sage 50 US Edition and Sage 50 Canadian Edition. If you're in the UK, Sagify can't help you; if you're in North America, HyperShop can't. So the first decision isn't Hyperext or Sagify, it's which Sage 50 you have, and that narrows the field to two or three connectors before you compare a single feature.

This post is that comparison. It covers both products in the same detail, from each vendor's published material as of November 2026, and then the other connectors by edition: Zynk, Tradebox, Red IT, DataLink and Commercient for the UK; CartSpan, Commercient and eBridge for the US; Storehub and Zynk for Canada. Where we have an opinion, we say it's ours. Where a vendor doesn't publish something, we say that too.

Which Sage 50 Do You Have?

Sage 50 Accounts (UK and Ireland, descended from Sage Line 50), Sage 50 US (descended from Peachtree) and Sage 50 Canadian Edition (descended from Simply Accounting) are three separate programs with separate programming interfaces, which is why no connector supports all three without being three connectors. Open Help → About in Sage 50: the product name tells you. The reasons are in Shopify to Sage 50 in the UK: why the connectors differ.

Hyperext HyperShop

Hyperext is a UK company and a Sage authorised developer partner. Its Shopify product, HyperShop, is built on HyperAccounts, which Hyperext describes as a real-time REST API layer for Sage 50 Accounts that it installs on your premises. The facts below are from Hyperext's own pages.

Compatibility. UK desktop versions of Sage 50 Accounts Professional, v28 (2022) through v34 (2026). Hyperext's own writing is clear that the US and Canadian Sage 50 are unrelated products, and it doesn't claim to support them.

How it runs. As a Windows background service on the server or PC that holds the Sage 50 data, or on a hosted desktop (Azure, AWS). A variant, Hyperdrive, runs on a server Hyperext hosts, using Sage's Remote Data Access.

What it does.

  • Shopify orders appear in Sage 50 Accounts as sales orders "within seconds".
  • Stock quantities go to Shopify whenever they change in Sage.
  • Customers are notified through Shopify when you allocate or despatch in Sage, with tracking passed from Sage to Shopify.
  • Trade customers can be assigned to their own sales ledger account (Advanced tier and above).
  • Product pricing updates to Shopify (Advanced and above).
  • Shopify payouts posted as sales receipts, with payout fees accounted for as cost of sale (Pro tier).
  • The same platform offers WooCommerce (HyperWoo), Linnworks, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Zoho CRM, Stripe, ShipStation, Mintsoft, Make and Zapier through webhooks, and a Sage 50 MCP server.

What it doesn't say. Refunds and credit notes aren't mentioned on any HyperShop page we read. Amazon, eBay and Magento aren't mentioned either. Ask about refunds before you buy; a store without a refund path ends up fixing them by hand.

Pricing (ex VAT). Lite, £95 a month plus £600 setup, up to 200 orders a month. Advanced, £150 plus £900, up to 1,000 orders. Pro, £240 plus £1,200, up to 3,000 orders. Priced as an annual subscription; Hyperext's own comparison puts year-one costs between £1,740 and £4,080. Setup is remote and takes about a week.

Where to find it. On hyperext.com. We couldn't find a listing on the Shopify App Store or the Sage UK Marketplace, and a Shopify Community thread notes the same. Hyperext's pages say "recommended by Sage"; we couldn't verify that independently.

Our read. For a UK business on Sage 50 Accounts Professional that wants orders in Sage within seconds and despatch notifications back to customers, HyperShop looks like a strong, focused product, and the sales-receipt handling of payouts on the Pro tier is the part many connectors skip. The gaps to probe are refunds, Standard edition (not supported), and the setup fee relative to the lower-cost UK options below.

Sagify

Sagify is our product, so read this section with that in mind. It comes in two editions because the programs are different: Sagify US for Sage 50 US 2026 Edition or newer, and Sagify Canada for Sage 50 Canadian Edition Pro, Premium and Quantum. Both are listed on the Sage Marketplace as Sage Tech Partner apps.

How it runs. A Windows app on the computer where Sage 50 is installed, posting into the company that's open in Sage 50 through Sage's own SDK, so Sage applies its usual rules. The computer has to be on while orders post; several computers can share one account.

What it does (US).

  • Orders become sales invoices or sales orders by rule (all orders, unpaid ones, unfulfilled ones, or orders with a tag), with customers matched by metafield, email, phone, domain, company or address, or created with an ID format you choose. See B2B and B2C workflows.
  • Refunds become credit memos against the original invoice, partial ones included.
  • Shopify Payments payouts post as receipts against each invoice or as one journal entry per payout, with fees handled four ways.
  • Inventory two-way, with Shopify products created from Sage 50 items.
  • Shopify POS as one journal entry per register per day or as invoices; Amazon and eBay settlement reports read into balanced journal entries. See journal entries.
  • Purchase orders that arrive as PDF or spreadsheet files, entered into Sage 50 with the buyer and parts matched.
  • Several Shopify stores into one Sage 50 company.

What it does (Canada). An invoice per order or a daily sales summary, customers matched or single, GST, HST, PST and QST by province, payouts matched to bank deposits, stock from Sage 50 to Shopify, and a full French interface.

What it doesn't do. Sage 50 Accounts (UK). Sage 50cloud hosted by Sage, where third-party programs can't be installed. Despatch notifications back to Shopify from Sage 50 shipping (fulfilment is marked in Shopify).

Pricing (US). Pay-as-you-go at $1.75 per order processed, with no monthly fee, which is how most stores start. Growth at $199 a month for up to 250 orders, Professional at $349 for up to 500 with payout reconciliation, inventory sync and the AI tools. Canadian pricing is on the Canadian page. No setup fee; setup is in the help centre and we do it with you on a call if you'd like.

The Other UK Connectors

For Sage 50 Accounts, alongside HyperShop (prices ex VAT, from each vendor's site):

  • Zynk Workflow. An integration engine installed on your own infrastructure, writing through Sage Data Objects, tested with v30 through v34. It's the one vendor that also supports Sage 50 US and the Canadian edition. Shopify orders, customers, payouts and balance transactions out; products, stock, prices, fulfilments and refunds back into Shopify. Priced by quote: an annual subscription plus a one-off implementation, 1 to 4 weeks. The right choice when Shopify is one of several systems you need to join up.
  • Tradebox One. Listed on the Sage UK Marketplace for Sage 50. Customers, invoices or sales orders and bank receipts in Sage, stock across channels, and an individual invoice per order for VAT detail, with eBay, Amazon, WooCommerce, Magento and others alongside Shopify. £82.50 to £220 a month, or £750 to £2,000 a year, priced by number of channels with unlimited orders. The deployment model isn't stated on its site. Strong for multi-marketplace sellers.
  • Red IT ShopifyExchange. Windows PC or server, Sage 50 or Sage 200 UK and Ireland. Customers, products, orders, payments and refunds into Sage; stock back. From £1,500 a year, with a 14-day trial.
  • DataLink (Holbi). Orders, stock, two-way products and customers, from £395; the page doesn't say whether that's one-off or recurring, and doesn't state where it runs.
  • Commercient SYNC. Has a Sage 50 UK and Shopify product on its cloud platform; how it reaches the desktop data isn't published. Integrations from $199 a month per connected source, with the sync quoted.

The Other US and Canadian Connectors

  • CartSpan (US only). A long-standing Sage 50 US connector for Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento 2, Amazon and Walmart, on your own PC or a hosting partner. Its site says $495 then $299 a year; its Sage Marketplace listing says $495 then $199, so ask. Known for handling assembled items.
  • Storehub.io (Canadian Edition). Shopify for Sage 50 (CA) on the Sage Canada Marketplace: orders raised as quotes, sales orders or invoices, price and stock sync, free setup, 14-day trial. The company is South African and its pricing page is in rand; confirm Canadian pricing and where it runs.
  • Zynk Workflow supports both North American editions as well as the UK (see above).
  • Commercient SYNC has separate products per Sage 50 edition.
  • eBridge Connections / Jitterbit. Its Sage Marketplace listing names Sage 50 US versions 2013 to 2018, and its Shopify App Store app is currently unavailable. Verify current version support before considering it.

Our earlier buyer's guide to Sage 50 desktop connectors compares the North American options in more depth.

Connectors That Look Like Sage 50 Connectors but Aren't

  • A2X, Combidesk and Zynk for Shopify on the Sage UK Marketplace connect to Sage Accounting, the browser product, not Sage 50. A2X lists Sage 50cloud as unsupported and doesn't integrate with Sage in Canada or the US.
  • Synder, Webgility and Expandly don't list Sage 50 at all; their accounting integrations are QuickBooks, Xero and, for Synder, Sage Intacct.
  • The "Sage Business Cloud Accounting" app on the Shopify App Store is Sage Accounting too. If your Sage opens from the Start menu, it won't connect. See which Sage do I have?.

How to Choose

  1. Edition first. Sage 50 Accounts: HyperShop, Zynk, Tradebox, Red IT, DataLink, Commercient. Sage 50 US: Sagify, CartSpan, Zynk, Commercient. Sage 50 Canadian Edition: Sagify, Storehub, Zynk, Commercient.
  2. Then the three things most connectors skip: refunds as credit notes (or credit memos), payouts reconciled with fees, and what happens to an order that can't post. Ask each vendor to show you all three on your data.
  3. Then where it runs and whether that matches your setup: your server, one PC, a hosted desktop, Remote Data Access.
  4. Then price, counting setup fees and the order volume you'll have in a year, not this month.

If you're on Sage 50 US or Canada, book a demo and we'll run your real orders through Sagify. If you're on Sage 50 Accounts, start with HyperShop and Zynk if you want orders in near real time, and Tradebox if you sell on several marketplaces. We'd rather send you to the right product than sell you the wrong one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Hyperext a competitor to Sagify?

Not in practice. Hyperext's HyperShop supports Sage 50 Accounts in the UK; Sagify supports Sage 50 US and Canadian Edition. A business can only use one of them, decided by which Sage 50 it runs.

Does Hyperext work with Sage 50 US or Canada?

Hyperext's published material covers UK desktop versions of Sage 50 Accounts Professional only, and Hyperext's own writing describes the US and Canadian products as unrelated. For those editions, see Sagify, CartSpan, Storehub, Zynk or Commercient.

Does Sagify work with Sage 50 Accounts in the UK?

No. Sagify is built on the US and Canadian Sage 50 SDKs. For Sage 50 Accounts, see Hyperext, Zynk, Tradebox, Red IT, DataLink or Commercient. For Sage Accounting in the UK or Ireland, Sagify for Sage Accounting installs from the Shopify App Store.

Which Sage 50 Shopify connector is cheapest?

By published prices: Sagify US pay-as-you-go has no monthly fee at $1.75 per order; CartSpan is a few hundred dollars a year; Tradebox starts at £82.50 a month; HyperShop starts at £95 a month plus £600 setup. The cheapest for you depends on order volume and on whether a setup fee is one-off or annual.

Which connector handles refunds?

From published material: Sagify (credit memos), Zynk (refunds back into Shopify, and into Sage via workflow) and Red IT (refunds into Sage) say so. Hyperext, Tradebox and DataLink don't mention refunds on their pages. Ask before you buy.

Is there a Sage 50 Shopify connector that runs entirely in the cloud?

Not for the desktop data. Every Sage 50 edition keeps its data on your machine or server with no cloud API, so something has to run there. Cloud-platform vendors such as Commercient and Jitterbit still need an installed agent or an equivalent to reach it.
